Purpose Of Organizational Unit
The Institute for Risk Management and Insurance Innovation (IRMII) is focused on interdisciplinary research and training that lead to better understanding and management of financial losses resulting from perils ranging from extreme weather to pandemics to cyber-attacks. Our mission is to drive the advancement of creative risk management tools and strategies to address growing threats to society, and to cultivate a collaborative ecosystem of academics and industry leaders to train the next generation of risk management professionals.
The Institute has a focus on both graduate research and graduate/undergraduate education, with the latter involving the administration of the new Minor in Risk Management. Support for IRMII includes funding from nearly 40 firms from across the insurance and risk management sector, and Institute faculty, staff and students have many opportunities to interact with these partners as they develop research projects and training programs of direct relevance to the industry.
Summary
The Institute for Risk Management and Insurance Innovation (IRMII) seeks a strategic, creative, and highly motivated Marketing and Communications Manager to lead the Institute’s marketing, branding, communications, and student engagement efforts. This role is responsible for shaping and executing IRMII’s marketing strategy, strengthening its brand presence, and enhancing its profile among its students, alumni, faculty, and industry partners. The Marketing and Communications Manager will own the development, execution, and evaluation of IRMII’s content, campaigns, and outreach initiatives, working closely with Institute leadership, faculty, students, and our 45 industry partners.
This position plays a critical role in positioning IRMII as a leading voice in risk management and insurance innovation, while supporting the Institute’s growth, programs, and signature events.
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with three years or greater of related professional experience in marketing, communications, journalism, public affairs, or a related field; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications , Competencies, And Experience- 3-5 years’ experience in marketing and/or communications within a university/academic environment.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience with Canva, Word Press, Mailchimp, and social media scheduling tools.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; comfortable working across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.
Interest in risk management, insurance, or related fields a plus, but not required.
