Job Title: EC Pre-K Teacher Assistant Salary

Director of Pre-K/Head Start Salary Grade: 103 Work Location: Northside Elementary School FLSA Status: Nonexempt Work Schedule: 10 Month
To assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a well-organized, smoothly-functioning class environment where students can create, explore, learn, and play. To work as a collaborative team member to provide instructional support to all students and meet their individualized educational needs.
Essential Duties Primary Duties- Work in collaboration with your teaching team to develop and maintain a clean, safe classroom environment that allows children to create, explore, and play in a variety of centers
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of classroom learning experiences for individual students, small groups, and/or large groups as directed by your teacher
- Guides and helps individual students with curriculum, developing skills and/or IEP goals based on their needs
- Works in collaboration with the teacher to devise strategies to support the expressed needs of all students in the classroom
- Observes & documents students' growth and development as requested by the teacher
- Assists with behavior management and supportive strategies in a manner consistent with policies and expectations of the teacher, CHCCS PreK/Head Start, and the elementary school
- Assists with meeting individual needs of students such as getting on and off the bus, putting on clothing, moving inside and outside the classroom, toileting or diapering, etc.
- Provide input and assessment data if a student is
- Provides guidance and support to substitute teacher on classroom routines and instructional plans
- Participates in regular teacher/TA classroom meetings and monthly PreK/Head Start TA meetings
- Assist in the daily communication of student progress to families at drop off and pick up
- Assist in the preparation and communication regarding student outcomes as assigned by the teacher
- If working Extended Care - communication and respond to parent inquiries about their child's day
- Assist in the development of family engagement activities and support parent inclusion in the classroom and learning experience
- Collaborate with the teacher and other staff as needed to support expressed family needs
- Checks classroom supplies and assists in procuring and maintenance of classroom health, safety, attendance, and food preparation procedures
- Assist with health/medical/nutrition needs of students according to documented action plans.
- Mixing sanitation solutions and completing daily sanitation procedures
- Enter attendance in PreK/Head Start database (Child Plus)
- Check and maintain an emergency notebook and first aid pack
- Assist with daily & monthly playground checks
- Preparing classroom and procuring & preparing meals as requested by the teacher and your school's food service staff
- Adhere to and implement regulations according to Head Start Performance Standards, NC DCD licensing, NC PreK, Title 1, and CHCCS district policies and procedures
- Provides assistance in other classrooms as needed when requested by the teacher or PreK/Head Start administration
- Maintains a high level of professionalism as is expected of all CHCCS employees

- Performs such other tasks as the teacher or other supervisors may assign
- High School Diploma plus EDU 119 (Introduction to Early Childhood Education, NC Community College System), required
- Possess an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field or CDA, or enrolled in a program and actively pursuing, required
- Prior experience working with Pre-K children, experience working with students with disabilities (preferred)
- Completed or willing to complete district requirements specific to Pre-K classrooms (Criminal background check; TB test; medical exam; CPR & First Aid training; other training as required by program…
