Position Summary
At CHCCS, a teacher’s goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience he needs to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever-changing world.
Essential Duties- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each student’s needs
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate them to students
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members to help students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by the district and through self‑selected professional growth activities
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required
- Participate in faculty committees and sponsor student activities
- Teach pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment for pupils
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Holds or is eligible to hold a N.C. teaching license
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Prior teaching experience preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
