Position Summary: At CHCCS, a teacher’s goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience needed to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever-changing world.
EssentialDuties
- Develop and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials, including individualized and small‑group instruction adapted to the needs of each student.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning that aligns with the maturity and interests of the students.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required for a functional learning atmosphere.
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicating them to students.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media.
- Evaluate student academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify pupil needs and collaborate with other professional staff to assess and address health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Participate in curriculum development and related programs, including faculty committees and student activities sponsorship.
- Instruct pupils using the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Translate lesson plans into effective learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
- Evaluate pupil performance and growth using formative and summative evaluation tools.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor and maintain compliance with district policies.
- Hold, or be eligible to hold, a North Carolina Professional Educator’s license in the assigned area.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Other qualifications acceptable as determined by the Board.
- Ability to perform essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with the same standards.
