Position Summary/Description

The High School Pre- BSW certificate is expected to enroll 100 NC high school students annually into a 12-month certificate program spanning two academic semesters and a summer. This program is slated to reach 400 students across the 5-year grant cycle.

The Secondary Education Program Liaison will report to the Secondary Education Program Manager and will assist with the development, launch and implementation of the Pre- BSW certificate with high school students across the state of NC. The Program Liaison will provide assistance in the following areas:

  • Recruiting student participants
  • Conducting orientation/informational sessions for prospective students and their families
  • Processing student applications
  • Communicating with students and their families throughout the duration of their cohort implementation
  • Planning and facilitating in-person and hybrid learning experiences that extend student knowledge and exposure to social work-related career areas and CSWE accredited programs within the NC Social Work Workforce Development Coalition.
  • Collecting high school program metrics and data that will be used to inform PSLP program evaluation reports and outcomes.

This position will be located in Chapel Hill, NC and will require up to 25% travel to in-state NC schools and universities. Additional travel may include participation in national conference presentations. This position is considered time-limited with guaranteed funding through June 30, 2027 with possibility of ongoing renewal.

Education and Experience
  • Direct practice or professional experience working in NC K-12 and/or social work settings.
  • Experience using data to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively with workforce populations, stakeholders and settings.
Essential Skills
  • Degree in social work, human services, public administration, psychology, public health, education or related field of study.
  • Experience involving NC high schools and/or youth-serving organizations that serve adolescent populations.
  • Experience planning and facilitating learning events, conferences, or other large in‑person gatherings.
  • Proficiency in online learning platforms and digital tools for virtual program delivery (e.g. Zoom, Canvas, etc).
  • Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage workload both independently and collaboratively without immediate or direct supervision.
  • Ability to think critically and use conflict resolution skills to solve complex logistical problems involving a variety of populations (e.g. schools, community-based nonprofits, university).
  • Approachable, calm style encourages open communication across essential partners.
