Position: Success Coach/Recruiter, HEP Program (Part-Time)

Under general supervision, the Success Coach/Recruiter provides front-line support, registration, clerical coordination, and customer service for the High School Equivalency Program (HEP). Supports recruitment and outreach to identify, inform, and enroll eligible students across the College's service area. The role maintains plans/executes recruitment presentations, partnerships, and campaigns, including bilingual information where appropriate while also facilitating career exploration and some career advising for students.

The position works regularly with individuals who may not speak English. This is a part-time, up to 29 hours per week position.

What You'll Do
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver recruitment and outreach activities; conduct presentations to local/regional entities to recruit eligible HEP students.
  • Provides case management, advising, and retention support through regular communication, barrier resolution, referrals, appointment scheduling, and ongoing follow-up.
  • Maintain an active outreach presence; develop and distribute recruitment flyers/brochures; support social/media messaging.
  • Conduct intake conversations, help to determine eligibility, and assist with creation/maintenance of student portfolios.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with community organizations, employers, schools, churches, and service agencies.
  • Provide group/individual information sessions; share program, admissions, and support services information; make timely follow-ups.
  • Coordinate student development activities and collaborate with staff supporting counseling, tutoring, and placement.
  • Assists students in developing academic, career, and transition goals and connects them with appropriate college, workforce, and community resources.
  • Travel within the College service area; participate in local/state trainings relevant to HEP outreach and recruitment.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • At least two (2) years of experience in student recruitment, advising, retention, case management, community outreach, education, workforce development or a closely related field
  • Valid driver's license required

OR equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Bilingual (Spanish-English)
  • Experience working with migrant communities, underserved populations, grant-funded programs, adult education, and/or community college student support services

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Maintains knowledge of HEP grant requirements, the communities served by the HEP grant, and current developments in adult education, student support, and related initiatives.
  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills in managing schedules, appointments, student contacts, recruitment activities, events, follow-up tasks, deadlines, and required documentation.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to explain program requirements and services clearly to individuals with varying levels of English proficiency.
Additional Information

Work Environment:
Work is performed in a combination of office, classroom, community, and outreach settings. Frequent contact with prospective and enrolled students, families, College employees, employers, schools, churches, community organizations, and service agencies. Work may involve interruptions, competing priorities, scheduled appointments, public presentations, and interactions with individuals experiencing educational, financial, personal, or language-related barriers. Regular travel throughout the College's service area is required.

Requires appropriate handling of confidential student and program information and compliance with FERPA and other applicable privacy requirements.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Frequently communicates in person, by telephone, through virtual platforms, and in group-presentation settings.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during recruitment events, presentations, and community activities.
  • Ability to regularly travel by automobile to off-site locations.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements associated with computer and office-equipment use.
  • Set up, transport, and distribute recruitment materials, displays, supplies, and equipment.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.
  • Read information presented in electronic and printed formats and accurately enter and review data.
