Broadcast & Emerging Media Engineer Specialist - Journey

Chapel Hill, NC

This permanent staff position supports the technical infrastructure for WUNC-FM, bridging IT and broadcast engineering. Responsibilities include maintaining computer and studio hardware/software, managing the AoIP network, and coordinating facilities projects.

• Maintain IT systems and resolve support requests for hardware, software, networking, and monitoring.
• Maintain studio equipment, automation, AoIP, and digital audio library systems.
• Perform daily and monthly maintenance tasks on the AoIP network to minimize downtime.
• Replace and service equipment such as headphones, install new digital consoles, and set up remote broadcasts.
• Travel to studios and transmitter sites for maintenance and support of engineering activities.
• Act as liaison or project manager on facilities and building projects.

• Associate’s degree in electronics or related field.
• Minimum of three years’ progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio, or emerging media engineering environment.
• Knowledge of studio and recording equipment, ISDNs, AoIP, and Wide Orbit.
• Project management, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.
• Capacity to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.

Must be able to move equipment up to 50 lbs, reach overhead, and perform bending and twisting movements.

Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Occasional evening, overtime, and weekend work may be required.

$60,000 – $80,000 per annum.
