Fire Protection Designer II – Chapel Hill, NC

OverviewAffiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) delivers high‑performance, innovative solutions to clients worldwide.
Responsibilities- Perform calculations and determine system sizing and layouts for fire suppression systems.
- Conduct field surveys and prepare detailed shop drawings.
- Design fire suppression systems independently, creating construction details and notes.
- Interpret and modify specifications for fire suppression systems.
- Research and resolve building and fire code questions.
- Technical or associate degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience.
- General knowledge of fire suppression systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; willingness to learn additional design programs.
- Ability to interpret design criteria and translate it into specific layouts.
- NICET Level I or II certification.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, excellent organization and time‑management.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively both independently and in teams.
