Nurse Educator needed for the Diabetes Program.
UNC Health is seeking a Nurse Educator (NE) Diabetes Program for the UNC Medical Center located in Chapel Hill & Hillsborough, North Carolina. The Diabetes NEs focused areas of support will include diabetic education and efforts on diabetic care improvements; house-wide educational initiatives; professional development of staff; also serve as a key support clinical practice groups, policies, unit-specific education, and clinical residency orientation.
The Diabetic NE team assists in the development of patient education materials, protocols, and procedures that enhance the diabetes education provided to UNC Health patients, and advanced Care at Home Patients. The Diabetic NEs collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide patient centered holistic care. Pediatric diabetes education experience is preferred.
This position is onsite, Monday thru Friday, 40 hours a week, regular business hours. No weekend or Holiday requirement.

SummaryCoordinates staff development and educational needs of patient care nursing staff, patients, and families. This is an advanced level position in education, which is performed under minimal supervision. Assignments may be characterized as those requiring collaboration to address staff educational needs within a specialty practice area and/or service. Serves in a lead capacity over others as it relates to special projects or subject matter expertise.
Work maybe performed collaboratively for multiple disciplines across the continuum of care or for a specific patient population or service area.
Other information:
- Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a state-accredited school of professional nursing.
- Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
- For Home Health/Hospice:
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification - For Home Health/Hospice:
Valid NC Driver's License - Professional Experience Requirements: Three (3) years of experience in tertiary care with two (2) years clinical experience in the assigned specialty.
