Position SummaryB3 is seeking a CommUNITY Leader to support inclusive community programming and oversee B3’s coffee catering service—supporting vocational and life skills development, confidence-building, and community visibility for members with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This role blends hands-on program facilitation with inclusive workforce development and community-building.
B3 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Chapel Hill, NC that brings people with and without disabilities together through social, educational, and vocational programs. We create spaces of belonging that advance disability justice, allyship, and inclusion.

- Prepare products and supplies for coffee and catering service (B3 averages 2-3 bookings per month)
- Supervise and support inclusive coffee service shifts, helping members build vocational skills, confidence, and workplace routines
- Provide on-the-job coaching to members (e.g., customer interaction, task sequencing, teamwork, professionalism)
- Support quality, safety, and positive customer experiences while centering dignity and growth over productivity alone
- Facilitate one weekly life skills group using B3’s curriculums
- Occasionally support Clubhouse drop-in hours
, fostering a welcoming, low-demand, accessible community environment - Support member choice, leadership, and participation across leisure, community participation, and goal-focused activities
- Support planning and implementation of occasional inclusive community events (e.g., Halloween Party, Valentine’s Day Party, Disability Pride Parade)
- Assist with accessibility considerations, materials prep, and on-the-ground facilitation
- Help cultivate joyful, affirming spaces that center belonging and shared leadership
- Use tools such as Canva, Google Drive/Slides, and B3’s social coordination app (Partiful), to support communication and organization
- Help create simple visuals, schedules, and supports for programs, events, and service shifts
- Assist with light documentation and organization of program materials
- At least 1 year of experience supporting people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Undergraduate degree in a related field (human services, education, psychology, public health, etc.) preferred
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills
- Skilled in navigating complex social dynamics and providing co-regulation to support emotional safety and group cohesion.
- Comfortable using basic tech tools (Canva, Google Drive/Slides, scheduling/event platforms)
- Warm, engaging, and able to bring fun energy to community spaces
- Skilled in creating inclusive learning and vocational environments that support a wide range of sensory, communication, and support needs
- Aligned with disability justice, neurodiversity-affirming practice, and person-centered support
- Must have some weekend/evening availability for occasional catering and social events.
- Current schedule includes facilitating the Friday morning life skills program and assisting with Clubhouse drop-in hours on Fridays from 2:00–4:00 PM.
- $22/hour
- 10 hours/week to start, with potential for growth as B3 expands
