Position Summary:

The Department of Orthopaedics’ primary mission is to provide excellent clinical care, promote education and training in musculoskeletal health, and engage in groundbreaking research. The orthopedic faculty/physicians, in collaboration with UNC Health, deliver clinical care primarily to the patients of UNC Health at the UNC Medical Center, as well as various other UNC Health affiliate sites across the state. The Department’s residency program trains orthopedic residents and offers several fellowship opportunities for specialized education in orthopedic subspecialties.

The Department is also recognized for its research in musculoskeletal health, including biomechanics, tissue engineering, and orthobiologics.

The Academic Support Coordinator for the Department of Orthopaedics provides comprehensive administrative support and coordination across various academic programs and divisions. Key responsibilities include coordinating Undergraduate Medical Education programs, including the MS3 clinical rotations, coordinator for the Acting Internship for MS4’s, and department coordinator for the UNC SOM Castillo Scholars Program for rising MS2’s.
