One of the best college towns and best places to live in the United States, Chapel Hill has diverse social, cultural, recreation and professional opportunities that span the campus and community.

University employees can choose from a wide range of professional training opportunities for career growth, skill development and lifelong learning and enjoy exclusive perks for numerous retail, restaurant and performing arts discounts, savings on local child care centers and special rates on select campus events. UNC-Chapel Hill offers full-time employees a comprehensive benefits package
, paid leave, and a variety of health, life and retirement plans and additional programs that support a healthy work/life balance.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides psychological services to all students enrolled at UNC Chapel Hill who have paid the student health fee. The psychological/counseling services provide individual, couples, and group therapy, same day triage appointments, crisis intervention, outreach services and medication evaluation and management. The team also provides risk assessment evaluation for the Dean of Students office.

CAPS is a unique health care entity, and position duties do not necessarily compare to an academic department or other service units of the University. We face many challenges associated with healthcare delivery that most job descriptions do not address, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, CPT and ICD-9 coding, billing, electronic health record, and electronic insurance filing.

Position Summary:

The Clinical Prescribing Pharmacist (CPP) provides evaluation for medication and ongoing medication maintenance under the supervision of a psychiatrist. The pharmacist does not provide a diagnosis to the client but provides all other aspects of medication evaluation and maintenance. The CPP is a highly skilled practitioner who is able to work with a high level of independence to provide high-quality health care to UNC CH students and postdoctoral fellows.

The CPP meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards of the health-system. The position reports to the director of Counseling and Psychological Services.
