New Graduate RN needed for Acute Burn and Wound Care Unit at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC.This is a 36 hours/week position, day/night and weekend rotation, with flexible self-scheduling. This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package.
5 East is a 15 - bed Acute Burn and Wound Unit and we function as an extension of the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center. This unit operates with a 5:1 patient ratio.
We care for adult patients who have a burn injury and/or other type of complex wounds. The burn injuries on our unit are acute and generally less than 20% of total body surface area. We provide burn and wound care to these patients from the acute through rehabilitative phase. We also care for overflow patients from other units on the acute care surgical units and occasionally overflow form the acute care medicine units with patients including but not limited to: plastic surgery patients, diabetic wounds, and pressure ulcers.
Nurses on 5 East are trained in medical-surgical nursing as well as Burn and Wound care. Our nursing team works with the interdisciplinary team to provide the best possible care for our patients. The team includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nursing assistants, physical, occupational and recreational therapists, chaplains, and rehabilitation counselors, social workers and dieticians. We are team oriented, dynamic caregivers and experienced patient advocates.

This opportunity is for a new grad nurse who is currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have graduated from nursing school within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. It is expected that applicants will have their RN license and be able to practice in North Carolina prior to the first day of employment.
