Position: Licensed Practical Nurse - Post Surgical - Full Time Nights

Position Summary

To support, implement, and monitor nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements
  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

  • AT&T Language Line
  • Omnicell Medication System
  • Ability to work well under pressure, function dependently and independently, and adapt basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings.
Physical Environment

Medical/surgical unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age to ninety-nine years of age.

Physical Effort
  • Communicate in English orally and in writing.
  • Prolonged standing and working up to twelve hours a day.
  • Push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  • Lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
Performance Standards
  • Revise patient care plan on an individual basis, identify problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions, and attainable outcomes.
  • Assist with patient teaching, discharge, and post‑discharge needs as appropriate.
  • Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to areas evidence by adherence to policy, procedure, and competency‑based assessment with no pattern or trend of problem.
  • Handle, transport, store, prepare, administer, and safely administer solutions per hospital and departmental policies.
  • Monitor and report patient’s condition, evaluate patient response to treatment, and modify plan of care appropriately and timely.
  • Document accurately and timely.
  • Maintain healing and therapeutic environment for patient and family.
  • Maintain position‑specific qualifications.
  • Facilitate staff development.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for assigned communications.
  • Maintain work area and personal appearance reflecting professionalism, cleanliness, orderliness, and safety.
