UNC Campus Health at Carolina is a multi‑specialty ambulatory college health clinic providing quality, and affordable health care for eligible students (including D‑1 Athletes), faculty/staff and spouses. Annually, UNC Campus Health at Carolina has more than 80,000 patient encounters, which includes Primary Care and Gynecology as well as specialty clinics in Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, Physical Therapy, acupuncture, counseling and psychological services, travel clinic and allergy clinic.
Weekend acute care is provided from 8-5pm. On site ancillary services include pharmacy, OTC pharmacy, Student Stores pharmacy, medical laboratory, and radiology.
Campus Health collaborates with Student Wellness and Campus Recreation and other Student Affairs partners to provide education and outreach to assist in keeping the campus population healthy.
Education and research comprise another important function of Campus Health. Campus Health provides clinical rotations and practicums for students in the School of Education, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work and Public Health, Department of Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Health and Radiology. In addition, Campus Health serves as a research site for a number of faculty and graduate student grants and contracts, where Campus Health staff participate with the principal investigators across a variety of medical specialties.
The Physician Practice Nurse in Orthopaedics at UNC Campus Health provides direct patient care within a sports medicine‑focused setting, utilizing the nursing process to support a broad range of conditions from acute injuries to chronic concerns. This role emphasizes the management of orthopedic and sports medicine needs, including injury triage, post‑surgical care, and assistance with procedures such as joint injections, casting, and splinting, in addition to primary care responsibilities.
Serving as a key liaison between providers and patients, the position also supports clinical procedures, patient education, and specialty‑specific care to promote optimal outcomes.
Education Requirements:
- Diploma, Associate Degree (ADN) or Bachelors Degree (BSN) from an accredited school of Nursing.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Licensed to practice as Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- BCLS.
Professional Experience Requirements:
- Previous experience in physician office, urgent care, emergency department preferred.
