Position Summary
This position will serve as a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator within the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatal‑Perinatal Medicine. The Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator is responsible for independently providing specialized nursing services for various clinical research protocols.
They are responsible for providing guidance and assistance to study teams in both clinical and non‑clinical areas of research, including participant visits, data quality, and others.
The Division of Neonatal‑Perinatal Medicine is committed to improving the health status of infants. The department participates in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Neonatal Research Network (NRN) as well as other NIH‑ and industry‑funded clinical trials.
The primary purpose of this position is to help recruit patients, abstract data from the clinical chart, and enter data onto case report forms (paper or electronic) for clinical trials (e.g., NRN, other NIH, industry). For NRN trials, the nurse consultant will communicate with the Data Coordinating Center to help resolve data queries. Multiple trials are underway simultaneously and will be conducted at the UNC Newborn Critical Care Center.
This position is responsible for following all federal guidelines for data collection, development and submission of reports, and meeting established deadlines. It also involves speaking with patients in a medical setting and conducting laboratory processing (centrifuging, aliquoting, shipping).

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of experience in the area of specialization.
Management Preferences- Excellent decision‑making, interpretation, and time‑management skills.
- Excellent judgment, concentration, and attention to detail.
- Self‑direction and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Evening work occasionally, exposure to blood borne pathogens, patient care involved, weekend work occasionally.
