Now a Specialized Cardiology Unit at UNC Medical Center. UNC Medical Center is transforming 7 Bedtower from a General Medicine unit into a specialized Cardiology Unit launching this July. This is a rare opportunity for experienced nurses who are passionate about cardiac care and want to help shape a newly designed, high-impact clinical environment. You will join a collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional cardiovascular care and have the opportunity to influence unit workflows, clinical practices, and culture-building a best-in-class cardiac nursing unit from the ground up.
Overview
- 20-bed unit with a mix of step-down and acute care beds
- Patient population includes: myocardial infarction, heart failure, and arrhythmias
- Care includes: pre- and post-cardiac catheterization & electrophysiology procedures (pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator placements, ablations)
- Three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours)
- Shift differentials offered for weekends, nights, and evenings

Responsibilities- Education Requirements: Graduation from a school of professional nursing. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years and obtain a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a Master's degree in Nursing within seven years of employment.
- Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
