Research Development Manager

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring a Research Development Manager. This role involves advancing the Office of Research Development's efforts by coordinating large and complex external funding proposals, connecting faculty with key collaborators and resources, and managing multidisciplinary teams from concept through submission to increase competitive research awards.

• Guide proposal development from early stages to submission, coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Work across schools, departments, centers, and institutes to identify strategic funding opportunities.
• Contribute to proposal strategy, technical writing, and editing aligning internal research areas with external priorities.
• Engage external partners and support early-career researchers in pursuing extramural funding.
• Communicate funding intelligence via notices, agency updates, newsletters, and related materials to campus stakeholders.
• Required skills:
  
  Effective oral and written communication inside and outside the university.
• Preferred experience:
  
  Background in research development or administration, grant submission support, and scientific understanding.
• Education:
  
  Master's degree or Bachelor's degree plus up to 2 years of experience, or equivalent combination.
• Serves the Office of Research Development, supporting faculty research across disciplines with over $1 billion in extramural funding.
• Full-time permanent staff position with compensation dependent on qualifications.
