position summary

a sign-on bonus of $4,081 is available for the successful applicant of this position paid in 2 installments within 12 months of hire: $2,040.50 within 30 days of hire date & $2, months after hire date.

performs general carpentry, minor electrical and general plumbing repairs and has daily contact with department of housing and residential education and facilities services housing support staff and has responsibility for doing a great deal of planning to ensure minimal impact on students and staff while performing duties and responsibilities.

  • cross-connect certification or ability to obtain one in first six months of employment.
minimum education and experience requirements

high school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional guidelines: experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

management preferences
  • knowledge of general building maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • basic knowledge of general carpentry.
  • basic knowledge general plumbing systems.
  • basic knowledge of general electrical system operations.
  • ability to demonstrate great teamwork and communication skills with co-workers and housing staff.
required licenses/certifications

special physical/mental requirements

ability to stand for extended periods of time; navigate stairs and climb ladders; work in small tight spaces and bend, stoop, and crawl to complete work. Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. With or without reasonable accommodation; work in stressful conditions and under critical timelines; and work with small hand tools.

the selected candidate for this position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. a newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time (more than 20 hours a week) employee are eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working more than 20 hours and less than 40 hours per week). This shra sign-on bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. All recipients must sign the pay back agreement form.
