Position: UTS- Electronics Specialist Journey / Fire Alarm Technician - 2nd Shift - UNC Chapel Hill

Overview

This position is a member of the Life Safety/Electronics‑Specialty Shop team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of critical safety and monitoring systems across campus.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance inspections of electronic systems including:
    • Life Safety Systems
    • Fire Detection and Suppression Systems
    • Security Systems
    • CCTV (Closed‑Circuit Television) Systems
    • Equipment Monitoring Systems
    • Other miscellaneous electronic systems and subsystems
  • Install, maintain, and modify fire detection and suppression systems, life safety equipment, card access systems, CCTV, and equipment monitoring tools.
  • Respond to repair requests and troubleshoot electronic components to maintain peak system performance.
  • Coordinate with other teams and vendors to ensure timely inspections and installations.
  • Attend non‑revenue generating sporting events (free).
Qualifications
  • Experience working with security systems and CCTV systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of safety codes and regulations related to life safety systems preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and vendors.
  • Experience working with fire alarm systems.
