SummaryThe Shuttle Driver provides safe, timely, and courteous transportation for UNC Health patients, visitors, and team members between designated facilities, parking areas, and other authorized locations. This position supports the overall mission of UNC Health by ensuring dependable mobility services that enhance patient access, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- 1. Operates a shuttle vehicle along assigned routes, transporting passengers between UNC Health facilities and parking or satellite areas in a safe and efficient manner.
- 2. Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the shuttle, documenting and reporting maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- 3. Ensures compliance with all traffic regulations, departmental policies, and UNC Health safety standards.
- 4. Arrives at designated collection points prior to scheduled departure times, maintaining on-time service.
- 5. Greets and assists passengers courteously, providing information and help as needed, particularly to those with mobility challenges.
- 6. Maintains clear and professional communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and other drivers regarding route changes, delays, or incidents.
- 7. Adheres to vehicle capacity limits and ensures all passengers are safely seated or positioned before movement.
- 8. Upholds a professional appearance and demeanor reflective of UNC Health's commitment to excellence and respect.
- 10. Participates in departmental meetings, safety training, and other required activities as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- ? High school diploma or GED required.
- ? Valid North Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
- ? Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required based on vehicle size or route assignment.
- ? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- ? Strong commitment to customer service and patient-centered care.
- ? Knowledge of safe driving techniques and local traffic regulations.
- ? Ability to remain calm and courteous in stressful situations.
- ? Dependability and punctuality in all assigned duties.
- ? Ability to stand, sit, and drive for extended periods.
- ? Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
