The certified and licensed Athletic Trainer evaluates, plans and administers treatment of injured athletes under the direct supervision of their team physician (thru Precision Orthopedics).

General

• Attend department, clinic or company meetings as required
• Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns
• Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow staff members
• Respond to changing situations in a flexible manner to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary
• Attend required quarterly ATC meetings, periodic clinic staff meetings, clinic in-services and monthly journal club meetings
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all company policies and procedures; adhere to facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment; identify potentially unsafe situations and notify supervisor

Specific Duties

• Organizes and administers the overall athletic training program of extracurricular athletics, including injury recognition, assessment, treatment and disposition of athletic injuries
• Thoroughly evaluates various athletic injuries, determining which injuries can be treated properly in the training room and which need to be referred to other allied health care professionals
• Provide comprehensive preventive and rehabilitative plan of care to the injured athlete, utilizing modalities, therapeutic exercise, and functional return to sport activities
• Develops and maintains excellent communication and a positive working relationship with the team physician(s); acts as liaison between athletes, coaches, parents and physician
• Establishes and maintains all injury records at the school; completes all written documentation in accordance with departmental policy and procedure for timeliness, format and content
• Maintains a flexible schedule to cover athletic events, daily rehabilitation hours and practices as listed on the school contract
• Responsible for budget management of the training room, including purchasing and inventory of supplies and equipment
• Coordinates annual continuing education requirements for coaching, including Pupil Activity Validation and Adult CPR/AED
• Assists fellow coworkers with coverage during conflict events, tournaments, coaches CPR/First Aid classes and summer pre-participation physicals

• Must be licensed in athletic training in the state of Ohio and maintain current NATABOC certification
• Bachelor’s Degree Required
• Experience 3-5 years in secondary school setting preferred
• Adequate knowledge and skill to apply the principles of quality physical therapy care
• Must exercise independent judgment and discretion, schedule hours to meet the needs of the school and function without regular supervision
• Motivation to augment professional knowledge
• Emotional stability to exercise consistent, sound, professional judgment and commitment to supporting coworkers

The position requires the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects. Must be able to climb, pull, push, squat and/or kneel. Ability to demonstrate exercises properly without limitations. Maximum unassisted lift >50 lbs; average lift 25-50 lbs.
