Clinical Director – Addiction Treatment & Behavioral Health Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Director to lead the clinical program at our substance use disorder treatment facility in Chardon, Ohio
.
This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing clinical services, supporting and supervising the clinical team, maintaining high standards of client care and documentation, and ensuring the program operates in accordance with clinical, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
The ideal candidate is an experienced behavioral health leader with a strong background in substance use disorder treatment, co-occurring mental health conditions, clinical supervision, and trauma-informed care

Key Responsibilities Clinical LeadershipProvide leadership and oversight of all clinical services and programming.
Supervise, mentor, and support therapists and other clinical team members.
Conduct clinical supervision, case consultations, treatment team meetings, and clinical trainings.
Provide guidance regarding complex cases, treatment recommendations, behavioral concerns, and changes in level of care.
Promote a positive, collaborative, accountable, and client-centered clinical culture.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing clinical staff.
Ensure appropriate clinical staffing and coverage in collaboration with facility leadership.
Ensure clients receive individualized, evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Oversee assessments, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, case management, family involvement, and discharge planning.
Ensure treatment plans appropriately address addiction as well as co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, ADHD, and other behavioral health needs.
Review client progress and ensure treatment is adjusted appropriately based on clinical needs.
Provide direct clinical services when needed.
Support crisis intervention and higher-level clinical decision-making.
Promote evidence-based treatment approaches including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care.
Ensure clinical documentation is accurate, timely, complete, and meets organizational and regulatory standards.
Conduct clinical chart reviews and provide feedback to staff regarding documentation and quality of care.
Maintain strong standards for assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge planning, and other required clinical documentation.
Collaborate with compliance and facility leadership to maintain readiness for licensing, regulatory, and accreditation surveys.
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing review of clinical policies and procedures.
Evaluate existing clinical programming and identify opportunities for improvement.
Develop and strengthen groups, treatment tracks, clinical protocols, and programming based on client needs and evidence-based practices.
Monitor clinical outcomes and implement improvements that enhance client care.
Identify training and professional development opportunities for the clinical team.
Help build and maintain a clinical program focused on quality, accountability, and positive client outcomes.
Serve as an active member of the facility leadership team.
Collaborate closely with medical, nursing, admissions, utilization review, operations, compliance, and administrative staff.
Ensure strong communication and coordination between the clinical department and other areas of the organization.
Participate in leadership meetings, treatment team meetings, case reviews, and staff trainings.
Serve as a clinical resource to staff and organizational leadership.
