The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes in accordance with the mission of the facility. To assist in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established federal, state, and Joint Commission regulations and Center policies and procedures.
To assist Surgical Technologists and Physicians in direct patient care. To maintain a high standard of safety for the patient and staff members. Patient liaison for care rendered. Monitor stock levels, outdated supplies and equipment needs and report to Materials Management Coordinator. Serve as a role model and leader for Technologists and Nursing Assistants.
As a representative of FACILITY, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct affect on the facility's image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction with patients, family members, physicians, referral sources, affiliating schools, visitors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork congruent with facility standards and guidelines to promote positive relations and set an example for the staff.
Position Requirements- Licenses or
Certifications:
Current licensure to practice in the State of Ohio. Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course; ACLS preferred, and PALS preferred. - Education and Vocational Training: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. Current ACLS preferred and PALS certificate preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in perioperative nursing preferred.

- Ability to adhere to one's work schedule and manage time appropriately.
- Ability to circulate all types of cases preferred.
- Organizational skills above average.
- Knowledge and experience in facility, operating room, or facility nursing care.
- Effective communication skills.
- Effective positive interpersonal and customer relations skills via telephone and face‑to‑face interaction.
- Displays positive attitude towards other employees.
- Ability to set priorities.
- Ability to provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency on the unit.
- Ability to communicate well with patients, families, co‑workers, etc.
- Ability to correlate clinical data with patient's medical and nursing care.
- Ability to accommodate occasional frustration and anger on part of patients, families, and fellow nursing staff.
- Ability to transcribe physician's orders accurately and read labels and instructions completely.
- Assesses, plans, evaluates and ensures the implementation of the patient's care to achieve identified outcomes.
- Assumes a leadership role in the provision of quality nursing care for patients receiving care.
- Demonstrates continued competence in assessing, treating, and caring for individuals based upon age‑specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.
- Supports clinical activities, quality and customer service, employee management, resource and inventory management, regulatory compliance, safety, productivity and financial responsibilities as directed.
- Follows established policies and procedures with regard to attendance, documentation, safety requirements and financial management responsibilities.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Work is indoors in a climate‑controlled environment. Patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, blood and body fluids that may carry infection, infectious disease, and chemical and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate.
Physical RequirementsAbility to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and feel objects. Ability to climb, pull, push, and kneel. Ability to push a gurney with 150 lb. patient. Maximum unassisted lift over 100 lb. Ability to wear lead apron and push heavy equipment.
