Our team is fast paced and efficient with the focus on patients and their care. In this role, you will assist the surgeons while in the Operating Room and maintaining high quality patient care.
Position is based out of Chardon Surgery Center.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. To assist in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established federal, state, and Joint Commission regulations and Center policies and procedures. To assist Surgical Technologists and Physicians in direct patient care. To maintain a high standard of safety for the patient and staff members.
Patient liaison for care rendered. Monitor stock levels, outdated supplies and equipment needs and report to Materials Management Coordinator. Serve as a role model and leader for Technologists and Nursing Assistants.
- Assess, plan, evaluate and ensure the implementation of the patient’s care to achieve identified outcomes.
- Assume a leadership role in the provision of quality nursing care for patients receiving care.
- Demonstrate continued competence in assessing, treating, and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
- Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for the position.
- Follow established policies and procedures with regard to attendance, documentation, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, co-workers and other staff to ensure confidential and continuous patient care.
- Provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency on the unit.
- Complete financial management responsibilities as applicable to the role and department.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Certifications:
Current licensure to practice in the State of Ohio. Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support; ACLS and PALS preferred. - Education and Vocational Training:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. ACLS and PALS certificate preferred. - Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in perioperative nursing preferred.
- Ability to adhere to the work schedule and manage time effectively.
- Ability to circulate all types of cases (preferred).
- Organizational skills and responsibility in facility, operating room, or related nursing care.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide clear direction and foster teamwork.
- Ability to transcribe physician orders accurately and read labels and instructions.
- Ability to handle difficult patient, family, and staff interactions professionally.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Demonstrates continued competence in clinical activities, quality and customer service, and regulatory compliance.
- Assesses, plans, evaluates and ensures the implementation of patient care to achieve outcomes.
- Demonstrates knowledge of designated skills and maintains safety for patients and staff.
- Performs duties related to planning, organization and efficient operation of the surgical unit.
- Adheres to facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Completes documentation to ensure accurate, up-to-date information in accordance with standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrator as needed.
Work is indoors in a climate-controlled environment with potential exposure to odors, blood and body fluids, infectious disease, chemicals and electrical hazards. Occasional outdoor exposure may occur.
Physical RequirementsAbility to hear and communicate, see clearly, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle and feel objects. Ability to climb, pull, push and kneel. Ability to push a gurney with a 150 lb patient. Maximum unassisted lift over 100 lbs. Ability to wear lead apron and maneuver heavy equipment.
