Diesel Mechanic Job Summary
As a Diesel Mechanic at WM, you will maintain and repair trucks and equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA. You will use modern tools and procedures to deliver maintenance on diesel equipment and, at some locations, on the growing fleet of CNG trucks, ensuring safety and performance.

- Monday – Friday, every week
- Second Shift: 3:00 pm – 12:00 am
- No weekends
- Work setting: repair/maintenance shop at our Chardon, OH hauling site
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Estimate time and material costs for repairs and new parts.
- Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles; maintain a safety‑first environment.
- Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage and repair times.
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards.
- 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Success in pre‑employment drug screening and medical examination.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing; constant standing, walking, and grasping; occasional sitting and balancing.
- Exposure to cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, and other occupational risks.
- Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, and other environmental elements.
- Operations both indoors in the garage/shop and outdoors in inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
