Base Rate: $24.21/hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience

SummaryGeauga County Job and Family Services is seeking dynamic team players to join our Child & Adult Protective Services Intake and Family Preservation teams. Applicant must be experienced in working with children or adults in need of protective services, or counseling persons who have experienced abuse or neglect. These positions primarily act as a first responder, screening and investigating claims of child abuse and neglect as reported to the agency and/or providing direct services to children and families on an ongoing, long-term basis in the home and community.
Job duties include interviewing involved parties, utilizing databases to document information, implementing case and safety plans, conducting home visits, transporting clients, attending and testifying in court, and collaborating with community partners to meet families’ needs. This position is required to respond to the after-hours emergency COPE line in rotation with other caseworkers.
Strict adherence to deadlines is a must along with professional communication and writing skills. The successful candidate is resourceful, comfortable in crisis intervention, and able to quickly engage and build rapport with others.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field
- 1+ year(s) experience in Child Protective Services or other social/human services field, or UPP completion
- Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and good driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and FBI/BCI&I background checks
