Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Leads API process programs — Oversees multi‑step, multi‑year cGMP manufacturing development from pilot to commercialization.
• Designs full API processes — Performs scale‑up calculations, selects equipment, defines operating parameters, and plans production.
• Conducts process reviews — Ensures operability, safety, and quality across all stages.
• Serves as SME — Interfaces with internal leadership and external clients to solve complex technical issues.
• Mentors junior staff — Guides development of engineers and scientists.
• Drives process improvements — Uses ideation, modeling, and data analysis to optimize yield, cycle time, and quality.
• Leads quality investigations — Manages complex investigations and implements CAPA actions.
• Manages documentation — Coordinates creation of PFDs, batch records, validation protocols, SOPs, and campaign reports.

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field. 7+ years of experience in chemical development, chemical manufacturing, chemical engineering design, or the equivalent. Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, particularly pharmaceutical, is preferred.

Contract position based out of Charles City, IA.

$50.00 - $60.00/hr.
