Rural Health Clinic Director – Registered NursePosition Overview: The Clinic Director is responsible for providing leadership, policy direction and oversight to the Rural Health Clinic (RHC). Maintains accepted standards of medical practice throughout the RHC and provides administrative and professional supervision of all staff. Responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing services for all nursing staff and clinical nursing operations in the RHC. The Director has administrative responsibility for risk management, utilization management, and reimbursement.
Accountable for quality assurance and outcomes management of the RHC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates at senior-management level in all planning, budgeting, policy making, and decision making related to clinical operations.
- Makes certain the RHC is operating under RHC standards and regulations, this includes ensuring required reporting is completed timely and accurately and required policies and procedures are in place.
- Develops, maintains, implements and communicates nursing policies and procedures to staff that conform to current standards of nursing practice and organizational philosophy.
- Ensures that nursing aspects related to risk management, reimbursement, financial management, and other administrative functions are incorporated into operational systems.
- Monitors outcomes, budget results, patient satisfaction surveys, and other indicators of nursing performance.
- Develops a human resources plan for nursing including staffing and types of nurses needed as well as related allied health staff. Works with human resources, nursing directors, and team leaders to recruit, select, orient, and train new staff.
- Oversees staffing and scheduling of clinic personnel and medical providers. Works in partnership with the Clinic Coordinator to maintain staff work and call schedules and manage time off requests for personnel and medical providers.
- Ensures the performance and productivity of all nursing staff are evaluated annually and periodically throughout the year. Advises on appropriate corrective actions and professional development opportunities.
- Maintains high quality of care by nursing staff through continuous improvement of standards and protocols.
- Collaborates with physicians, medical professionals, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of nursing services and resolve identified problems.
- Ensures all staff is trained in quality assurance/control requirements and meet these standards.
- Stays current with state, federal, and payer regulations/requirements and updates professional standards for nursing for the medical practice appropriately.
- Responsible for ensuring a safe, clean work environment.
- Acts as the main point of contact during clinic surveys including Department of Inspections, Appeals, & Licensing (DIAL) and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) surveys. Performs mock surveys periodically in preparation for surveys, ensures the clinic is always “survey ready”.
- Responsible for the general operation of the RHC.

Minimum Education and/or Experience
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or master’s degree in business, health administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years healthcare leadership experience.
- Previous supervisory experience.
