About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead and continuously improve safety and environmental initiatives across a manufacturing environment. This is a highly visible, hands-on role responsible for creating a culture where safety is embedded into daily operations while ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
The ideal candidate is a proactive safety leader who enjoys working directly with employees, operations, and leadership to identify risks, solve problems, implement meaningful improvements, and drive accountability throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Leadership
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs across the manufacturing operation.
Serve as a trusted safety resource for employees, supervisors, managers, and plant leadership.
Identify workplace hazards and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
Conduct and coordinate risk assessments, machine safety assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and assessments for non-routine and high-risk work.
Ensure appropriate controls are in place for exposure to hazardous substances, electrical hazards, noise, radiation, flammable/explosive materials, machine hazards, and manual handling risks.
Promote employee involvement in safety initiatives and encourage employees at all levels to actively identify and address safety concerns.
Partner with operations and maintenance teams to ensure work is performed safely and stop work when necessary to protect employees.
Monitor safety performance, identify trends, and develop initiatives to continuously improve results.
Support consistent application of safety policies, procedures, and accountability standards.
Organize and maintain the plant's First Responder program and coordinate related activities.
Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Coordinate required regulatory training and ensure employees receive appropriate safety and environmental education.
Monitor environmental programs and practices related to air, water, waste, and other potential environmental impacts.
Partner with internal and external resources during regulatory audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
Maintain appropriate documentation, records, reporting, and administrative requirements related to HS&E programs.
Employee Engagement & Training
Develop and deliver safety training and educational programs for employees at all levels.
Communicate safety expectations clearly and effectively throughout the organization.
Coach employees and leaders on safe work practices and reinforce a proactive safety culture.
Respond to employee questions and concerns with professionalism, urgency, and appropriate follow‑through.
Promote accountability while maintaining a respectful and collaborative workplace environment.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HR, and other departments to identify and resolve safety and environmental issues.
Provide leadership with regular updates regarding safety performance, risks, incidents, and improvement initiatives.
Participate in cross-functional HS&E meetings, benchmarking activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with contractors and outside consultants to ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with established requirements.
Communicate unusual or potentially hazardous conditions to plant leadership and ensure appropriate action is taken.
What You'll BringEducation
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
An Associate's degree combined with substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience
4-7+ years of progressive Health, Safety & Environmental experience in a manufacturing environment.
Previous experience in a dedicated safety or HSE role required.
Experience working directly with manufacturing, operations, and maintenance teams.
Experience developing and implementing safety programs, training, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
Technical Knowledge
Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety requirements.
Understanding of EPA regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
Knowledge of industrial machinery, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
