Monday – Friday (12:00 pm – 10:30 pm). The job is located at our Charleston, IL hauling site repair & maintenance shop.
Job Overview & ResponsibilitiesAs a Diesel Mechanic you’ll maintain and repair trucks and equipment servicing over 20 million customers across the USA. You’ll work on diesel equipment and, at select locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.
- Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
- Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
- Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Perform safety checks on vehicles, ensuring safety of staff and communities.
- Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage and repair times.
- Assist senior Mechanics in completing project work.
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work per established safety procedures.
- 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete and pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical.
- Team player who cares about everyone in the shop.

Key points regarding physical demands, risks, and work environment:
- Exert physical effort including frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching and climbing; constant standing, walking and grasping; occasional sitting and balancing.
- Exposed to cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, heat and humidity.
- Work conditions include both inside garage/shop or gas plant and outside conditions with inclement weather.
