Staff Accountant

Overview

Staff Accountant position with a well-established construction company based in Ravenel, South Carolina. This in-office role handles a variety of financial tasks, including processing invoices, reconciling bank statements, preparing financial statements, and maintaining an organized general ledger. Payroll processing, tax preparation, fixed asset tracking, and month-end closing procedures are also involved.

• Accurately input all financial transactions into the accounting system, including sales, purchases, expenses, and payroll.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, managing customer payments, and following up on outstanding receivables.
• Regularly reconcile bank statements to ensure the accuracy of the company's cash balances.
• Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements such as income statements and balance sheets.
• Calculate and process employee payroll, including deductions and tax with holdings.
• Assist with the preparation of federal and state tax returns, including quarterly estimates.
• Maintain a well-organized general ledger, ensuring proper classification of all transactions.
• Record and depreciate fixed assets.
• Perform necessary adjustments and closing procedures at the end of each month.

• Experience in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management.
• Ability to handle journal entries effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with month-end close operations.
• Knowledge of Sage software is beneficial.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (or related field) preferred.
• Two or more years of accounting experience in construction (or related industry) preferred.
