Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Tax & Audit Training Specialist, you will coordinate all activities and programs that address auditor training and development under limited supervision.
- Leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive training program for auditors in collaboration with organizational leadership.
- Coordinating and conducting auditor training sessions and ensuring consistent communication and execution of training objectives.
- Scheduling training for audit teams and individual audit staff.
- Acting as a liaison between the SCDOR Audit, Licensing, & Enforcement division and the Training section of the SCDOR.
- Developing various instructional and technical manuals covering a wide range of tax types, including complex and specialized tax situations.
- Researching and interpreting federal and state tax law.
- Using all available resources to train, educate, and develop the SCDOR audit staff.
- Coordinating training sessions for the public.
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant program experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability for statewide travel with occasional overnight stay.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a business‑related field.
- At least eighteen hours of accounting coursework.
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- Experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or tax preparation and/or analysis.
- At least two years of experience in tax return preparation or auditing of tax returns.
- Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, methods, procedures, and their application to South Carolina Tax Acts and Regulations.
- Flexible hours may be available from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
- Telework schedule: eligible to work remotely up to two days per week after one year of employment.
- Office location: depending on space availability, you may choose which SCDOR office you work in (Columbia, Charleston, Florence, Greenville, Myrtle Beach, or Rock Hill).
