Sr. AP Analyst
Responsible for auditing and the appropriate processing of accounts payable transactions including the recording and/or updating of all related transactions in the on-line Banner system, supporting documentation and any necessary correspondence. Assists with various accounting functions. Works in the Accounts Payable area of the Controller's Office to process payments for vendors/individuals utilizing a complex, integrated, multi-module accounting system.
High school diploma and three or more years of professional accounting experience. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (with accounting courses) and at least one year of accounts payable experience preferred. Preference may be given for Banner Finance experience. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Ability to interpret and apply South Carolina laws and institutional policies, with regards to accounting and disbursement functions, in a fair and equitable manner. Working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and databases. Knowledge of the principles, practices, terminology and theories of accounting. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Ability to apply mathematical concepts. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Requires thorough understanding of the system configuration and workflow processing to identify and resolve problems.
Must be willing and able to work additional hours during fiscal year end, during peak times of activity for the department and when deadlines need to be met.
Salary is commensurate with education/experience which exceeds the minimum requirements. Offers of employment are contingent upon a successful background and credit check. All applications must be submitted online.
