Senior Accountant

Charleston area firm seeking experienced Senior Accountant to join their growing Client Advisory & Accounting Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys working with multiple clients, improving financial processes, and serving as a trusted business advisor.

This is not a traditional corporate accounting role. You'll partner with small and mid-sized businesses to streamline their accounting operations, produce accurate financial statements, strengthen internal processes, and provide actionable financial insights that help clients reduce taxes, increase profitability, and maximize cash flow.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation with experience as a Senior Accountant, Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Consultant. A CPA is not required and is not expected for this position.

• Manage the monthly accounting cycle for a portfolio of client businesses.
• Perform full month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial results and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
• Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
• Review accounting records for accuracy and ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Identify tax-saving opportunities and collaborate with tax professionals as needed.
• Support accounting software implementations and automation initiatives.
• Train and mentor junior accounting staff when appropriate.
• Serve as a trusted advisor by explaining financial information in a clear, practical manner.
• Respond to client questions and provide proactive financial guidance.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience as a Senior Accountant, Controller, Accounting Manager, or Accounting Consultant preferred.
• Public accounting, outsourced accounting, Client Accounting Services (CAS), or consulting experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
• Advanced experience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience managing multiple clients or multiple business entities is a plus.
• CPA designation is not required.
