ROLE OVERVIEW

The Junior Staff Accountant is an entry point into the Finance team, supporting core accounting operations across RHB, RCV, and RAM. This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is eager to build hands-on experience across accounts payable, reconciliations, insurance tracking, and general financial administration.

Working closely with the Staff Accountant and Director of Finance, the Junior Staff Accountant will develop foundational skills in real estate-related accounting while contributing to the accuracy, organization, and efficiency of the Finance department. This role offers structured mentorship and a clear path for growth within Finance, RAM, and Operations.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable Support

  • Process and code incoming invoices accurately and on time across all business units.
  • Communicate with vendors to confirm billing accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in maintaining vendor records and payment schedules to ensure uninterrupted payment flow.
  • Support the AP backup process to ensure continuity during staff absences.

Reconciliations

  • Assist with bank and account reconciliations under the guidance of the Staff Accountant or Controller.
  • Help identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner, escalating as needed.
  • Support data entry and validation across Quick Books Online (QBO) and App Folio.

Insurance & Draw Support

  • Assist in tracking insurance policies, mortgage schedules, and construction draw submissions across RHB and RAM.
  • Help compile supporting documentation for lender, investor, or audit inquiries.
  • Monitor document expiration dates and follow up with carriers or lenders to ensure current, accurate records.

General Administration & Filing

  • Maintain organized, audit-ready filing systems across shared drives for insurance, loans, utilities, and banking documentation.
  • Ensure folder structures are consistent and accessible across all business units (RHB, RCV, RAM).
  • Track and manage incoming correspondence, deadlines, and action items related to Finance operations.
  • Assist with reconciling travel and expense credit card points and supporting expense documentation.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR DEVELOPMENT

  • Build working knowledge of real estate accounting operations across property management, construction, and asset management.
  • Learn end-to-end AP workflows and financial reporting processes with mentorship from Finance leadership.
  • Contribute to SOP documentation and process improvement initiatives alongside the Finance Operations team.
  • Develop cross-functional communication skills through collaboration with Property Management and RAM teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 0–2 years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or a related field (internships and co-ops welcome).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
