Career Opportunity - Growth Potential to CFO

A growing law firm is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accounting & Finance Associate to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate with a degree in Accounting or Finance who is looking to build a long-term career in financial management.

The position will initially focus on billing, collections, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, and financial reporting
, with increasing responsibility as the candidate develops. The ideal candidate will have the initiative and aptitude to grow into a Controller/CFO-level role and eventually take responsibility for the firm’s overall financial operations.

• Manage the firm’s monthly billing process, including preparing and reviewing client invoices.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding client balances.
• Assist with collections and communicate professionally with clients regarding past-due accounts.
• Process and apply client payments.
• Maintain accurate accounts receivable and accounts payable records.
• Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly financial reporting and analysis.
• Track firm expenses and assist with budgeting and cash-flow management.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
• Assist with client trust and retainer accounting, as applicable.
• Work closely with attorneys and firm leadership to identify billing issues and improve collections.
• Assist the firm’s outside CPA with tax preparation, financial reporting, and year-end accounting.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting, billing, collections, and financial processes.
• As experience grows, assume increasing responsibility for the firm’s financial operations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy.
• Work closely with current contracted CFO.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Ability to learn new accounting and billing software quickly.
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to take on increasing responsibility.

This position is designed for someone who wants more than an entry-level accounting job. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn the financial operations of a law firm from the ground up and gradually take on greater responsibility.

The long-term goal is for this individual to develop into the firm’s Controller and ultimately assume the role of CFO, overseeing the firm’s financial operations, reporting, budgeting, collections, cash flow, and financial strategy.
