Senior Corporate Accountant Job Description
The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a key role in managing corporate and fund accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting a growing private investing platform with complex legal entity structures. This role oversees international shared service accounting functions, maintains complete books and records for multiple entities and funds, and partners closely with investment, asset management, tax, and audit teams. The position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys hands‑on work with reconciliations, fund structures, and corporate entities, and who thrives in a high‑growth, fully onsite environment.
Responsibilities- Develop a strong understanding of the private investing platform, including complex legal entity structures and fund arrangements.
- Interpret, implement, and administer accounting systems, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Prepare and complete corporate financial statements and bank reconciliations accurately and on time, analyze results, draw conclusions, and recommend improvements.
- Oversee the performance of the international shared service accounting team, monitor outputs, ensure adherence to service contracts, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations, capital accounts, and intercompany accounts, and identify and resolve any errors or discrepancies.
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned areas of responsibility and provide subject matter expertise and guidance to team members.
- Prepare and process journal entries accurately and in a timely manner, supported by complete and appropriate documentation.
- Ensure invoice coding is accurate and that payments are correctly applied to the appropriate accounts and entities.
- Prepare and maintain complete, accurate, and well‑organized work papers in line with departmental requirements and deadlines.
- Accurately calculate General Partner, Limited Partner, and Asset Management fees in accordance with various investment management agreements.
- Assist in preparing for and supporting the completion of the annual US GAAP audit, including providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with tax preparers on annual tax returns and filings, providing accurate financial data and supporting schedules.
- Review existing accounting systems and procedures, recommend modifications, and help implement process improvements as needed.
- Assist in maintaining the company expense reimbursement policy and system, ensuring proper controls and compliance.
- Handle ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned, supporting the broader finance and accounting function.
- Participate actively in the budgeting process to support long- and short‑term business objectives.
- Design and prepare detailed financial analyses, including bespoke data requests for leadership and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and analyze periodic cash position reports for all corporate entities and provide insights on liquidity and cash needs.
- Prepare and analyze annual corporate budgets and periodic reforecasts, and update assumptions as needed.
- Assess corporate performance against budget, identify significant variances, and clearly explain the underlying drivers.
- Initiate and/or review transfers, wires, and ACH transactions, and process stop payments on checks when required.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly fund and joint venture financial statements in accordance with fund or joint venture agreements.
- Assist investment and asset management teams with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for funds and joint ventures.
- Maintain complete books and records for all fund structures and related legal entities, including foreign entities and general partner entities.
- Handle the books and reconciliations for multiple corporate entities and ensure funds are accurately maintained.
- Support general accounting activities, including fixed assets, general ledger maintenance, and month‑end closing processes.
