We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our team and be part of tax engagements for a diverse client base of businesses, individuals, estates, trusts, and non-profits.
THE ROLE
As Senior Tax Manager, you will serve as the tax in-charge primarily for business and individual tax engagements, as well as some estate, trust, and non-profit tax engagements. You will work directly with clients throughout the year, prepare and review income tax returns ranging from simple to complex (including multi-state returns), and collaborate closely with the firm's supervisors and ownership on technical tax matters.

- Serve as tax in-charge on business, individual, estate, trust, and non-profit engagements
- Prepare simple to complex income tax returns, including multi-state and consolidated returns
- Review tax returns prepared by other staff members, as needed
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with assigned clients; may include occasional travel to client sites
- Maintain regular client contact throughout the year, promptly returning calls and emails
- Research technical tax matters to ensure client compliance and document findings in client work papers
- Gather and document client financial information and tax support, keeping thorough, organized client files
- Coordinate tax journal entries with clients and assist with entries in Quick Books or other accounting systems
- Communicate compliance deadlines to clients, including extensions, estimated tax payments, and filing due dates
- Use the firm's secure client portal to exchange documents and manage e-signatures
- Monitor engagement budgets and timelines, escalating scheduling or scope concerns to a supervisor
- Collaborate with the client service team, manager, and/or firm owner, keeping them informed of important developments
- Demonstrate strong project management, teamwork, and use of current tax technology and tools
- Maintain accurate time records and submit timesheets promptly each pay period
- Follow all firm policies, including client confidentiality, data safeguarding, and cybersecurity/phishing awareness practices
- Pursue ongoing professional development through continuing tax and accounting education
- Minimum of 4 years of tax preparation experience with a CPA firm
- Strong technical knowledge of individual, business, estate and trust taxation
- Experience preparing multi-state tax returns preferred
- Proficiency with Quick Books and modern tax preparation/research software
- Excellent communication skills and a client-service mindset
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
- Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team
- CPA license or CPA candidate strongly preferred
Salary range: $90,000+ for candidates at the Senior level, up to $130,000 for more experienced candidates, commensurate with experience and credentials.
