Job Summary

A small, established insurance defense law firm in Charleston, SC is seeking a Part-Time Billing Specialist to support billing, payment processing, records maintenance, and general administrative needs. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys accurate financial work, confidential information handling, and supporting a close-knit office team. The Part-Time Billing Specialist will work in a stable, professional environment where dependable support, teamwork, and accuracy are highly valued.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to daily operations while working independently and collaborating with attorneys and staff in a supportive small-office setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and process client invoices accurately and on time.
  • Review billing entries for completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation.
  • Process payments, maintain billing records, and track outstanding balances.
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies in coordination with attorneys and staff.
  • Communicate professionally regarding billing questions, payment status, and account updates.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks and maintain confidential client and financial information.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay: $25 to $27 per hour.

    Part-time.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Prepare and process client invoices, billing entries, and payment records.
  • Track outstanding balances and assist with billing follow-up.
  • Research billing discrepancies and communicate with internal team members.
  • Support general administrative functions in a professional office environment.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant billing, bookkeeping, accounting, or administrative experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a small-office environment.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential client and financial information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a legal, law firm, or insurance-related environment.
  • Familiarity with client billing processes, invoice review, payment posting, or accounts receivable support.
  • Prior experience supporting attorneys, professional services teams, or small office operations.
