Healthcare Finance & Accounting

Location:
Charleston, South Carolina

Compensation Range: $175-$200/annually

We are seeking an experienced Director of Assets to join a large, complex healthcare organization. Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance, this position will provide leadership and oversight across several critical areas of accounting, including Cash, Investments, Accounts Receivable, Prepaid Assets, Inventory, Revenue Recognition, and Grants Accounting
.

This is a highly visible leadership role with a significant focus on net patient service revenue and net accounts receivable calculations across multiple markets and affiliated entities. The Director will also support ongoing analysis related to value-based care and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for Cash, Investments, Accounts Receivable, Prepaids, and Inventory across multiple healthcare entities
  • Oversee and review net patient service revenue and net accounts receivable calculations across multiple markets
  • Analyze patient and non-patient accounts receivable and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and valuation
  • Support financial analysis and research related to value-based care arrangements
  • Oversee retail pharmacy reconciliations and revenue recognition
  • Manage and review prepaid asset accounting and related financial analysis
  • Provide oversight of the organization's investment accounting
  • Review and support grants accounting activities
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end accounting activities
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting policies and procedures
  • Analyze complex financial information, identify trends or discrepancies, and communicate findings to senior leadership
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, Revenue Cycle, and other operational teams
  • Lead, develop, and provide guidance to accounting staff
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects within a fast-paced, highly complex healthcare environment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field with significant accounting coursework
  • Approximately 8-10+ years of progressively responsible accounting and financial reporting experience
    , depending on educational background
  • Significant accounting experience within the healthcare industry
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and balance sheet accounting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large volumes of work while meeting critical deadlines
  • Strong leadership and staff management capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience working within a large, highly complex hospital or healthcare system
  • CPA, CMA, or CHFP certification
  • Experience with net patient service revenue and patient AR valuation
  • Experience with value-based care, pharmacy revenue, investments, grants accounting, and prepaid asset analysis
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Power Point

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a seasoned healthcare accounting leader who can operate at both the strategic and detailed level. This individual should have a strong understanding of patient revenue and AR accounting
, be comfortable navigating complex financial data across multiple entities and markets, and have the leadership presence to communicate findings and recommendations to senior executives.

Success in this role requires someone who can manage competing priorities, develop and guide a team, maintain strong financial controls, and ensure leadership has accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making.
