Payroll Administrator

We are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join an automotive organization in North Charleston, South Carolina. This contract to permanent position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing payroll accuracy with employee support in a fast-paced office setting. The role calls for a dependable team member who can manage sensitive information, learn company systems quickly, and contribute to both payroll and HR-related administrative processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll information by gathering and validating timekeeping records, earnings details, commissions, bonuses, tax with holdings, and benefit deductions before final submission.
  • Update employee payroll profiles to reflect changes such as tax elections, compensation adjustments, benefit selections, transfers, and other status updates affecting pay.
  • Audit payroll calculations and deduction entries to ensure wages are recorded correctly and payroll records remain accurate and current.
  • Generate off-cycle or requested paycheck payments and prepare recurring reports related to earnings, taxes, and employee deductions.
  • Complete onboarding and separation documentation, maintain employee files, and track attendance-related records such as vacation and sick leave eligibility.
  • Support compliance and recordkeeping activities by maintaining required employment documentation, assisting with annual reporting, and monitoring payroll-related data for workforce accuracy.
  • Serve as a resource for employees by explaining company policies, pay details, benefits information, and general HR administrative questions.
  • Assist with benefits administration and workers' compensation coordination, including documentation, claim follow-up, enrollment support, and communication with providers or agencies.
  • Respond to external requests from agencies such as unemployment offices and help maintain an organized, efficient office environment while handling additional administrative duties as needed.
