Job Description – Environmental, Health and Safety Campus Lead

SAVI EHS is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety Campus Lead to oversee all EHS operations across a large-scale airport construction campus in Charleston, South Carolina. This leadership position is responsible for driving safety excellence across multiple concurrent projects while partnering directly with the client, project executives, general contractors, and trade partners.

The Campus Lead serves as the primary EHS representative for the entire campus, providing strategic leadership, mentoring project safety teams, and ensuring consistent implementation of company and client safety programs. This individual will champion a proactive safety culture while supporting operational success on one of the region's premier construction programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for Environmental, Health, and Safety operations across the entire project campus.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve site-wide safety programs and initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor Project Safety Managers, Coordinators, and field safety personnel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the owner, client representatives, regulatory agencies, and executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, client standards, and company safety policies.
  • Conduct executive-level safety audits and campus-wide inspections.
  • Oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Analyze leading and lagging indicators to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Review and approve Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Daily Hazard Analyses (DHAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and site-specific safety plans.
  • Support planning and coordination of complex crane operations, critical lifts, confined space work, energized electrical activities, and other high-risk operations.
  • Facilitate executive safety meetings and collaborate with project leadership to establish strategic safety objectives.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance through audits, observations, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and deliver site-specific orientations, leadership training, and ongoing EHS education.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement across all project stakeholders.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, logistics, and operational decision-making to integrate safety into every phase of construction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of construction Environmental, Health, and Safety experience
  • 3+ years in a Safety Manager, Senior Safety Manager, or Campus Leadership role
  • Previous experience supporting large-scale airport, aviation, mission-critical, industrial, or major commercial construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction Standards and regulatory compliance
  • Experience leading multiple projects and managing field safety professionals
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and client relationship management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and digital safety management platforms
  • Ability to analyze safety performance metrics and develop strategic improvement initiatives

Preferred Certifications

One or more of the following certifications is strongly preferred:

  • OSHA 30 Construction
  • OSHA 510
  • OSHA 500
  • ASP
  • GSP
  • CSP
  • CHST
  • STSC
  • CIT
  • Other BCSP-recognized professional safety credentials

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent education and relevant construction safety experience will be considered.
