Overview
The Post and Courier, South Carolina's premier news source, is seeking an idea-driven, energetic reporter to cover our retail beat and other news on our Business team.
The position is based in Charleston, a gem on the list of America's best places to live.
You are a strong candidate if you know how to break news on your beat, can write with flair and bring urgency to in-the-moment news, along with creative know-how to develop smart, quick-turn enterprise angles from your beat.
The retail sector is one of our most valued coverage areas. This reporter must be able to set the agenda to produce exclusives about new retail businesses coming to Charleston or existing businesses that are evolving, expanding or closing. You must be a visible, go-to source for readers of this high-interest content, while also contributing as needed to other general business news.
The retail reporter not only works closely with the Business team but also is closely aligned with reporters who cover other aspects of growth and development in fast-growing Charleston.
The Post and Courier is an independent, family owned newspaper that values its relationship with readers, believing in the idea that investing in journalism will lead to more readers and a sustainable business. We have built out newsrooms throughout the state, seeking to fill a void in news deserts and areas where local news coverage has dramatically shrunk.
If you are the right fit for this business role, you will join a Pulitzer Prize-winning newsroom where reporters have the opportunity to do some of the best work of their careers, limited only by their ambition and curiosity.
