The Campus Ministry to the College of Charleston is dedicated to the service of Jesus Christ within the Catholic Church to encourage the growth of Faith, Hope, and Love among the Students of the College of Charleston, to strive to assist in the reversion of Catholics who have fallen away, and to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who may not have heard it yet.

Headquartered at the Drexel House in the Heart of Historic Downtown Charleston, worshipping y of the Annunciation Church (the oldest Catholic Church in the Carolinas and Georgia), the Campus Ministry to the College of Charleston is a vibrant and growing ministry comprised of eager and devoted students, a joyful and dedicated Campus Minister, and a deeply engaged Chaplain.

Campus Minister of Faith Formation & Men’s Ministry

Position Type: Full-time
Reports to: Chaplain
Salary Range: $50-57k

Position Overview:

The Campus Minister for Faith Formation serves as a key leader in the Catholic Campus Ministry at the College of Charleston, responsible for theological instruction, catechetical programming, and faith formation initiatives. Under the supervision of the Chaplain, and in collaboration with the Campus Minister for Mission Advancement, this position ensures that students receive sound doctrinal teaching, opportunities for deepening their faith, and structured mentorship in evangelization.

This position includes responsibilities related to working with the men’s community, outreach, and ministry.

Key Responsibilities: 1. Theological & Catechetical Formation
  • Develop and lead structured theological programs in close collaboration with the Chaplain.
  • Oversee sacramental preparation for students, including OCIA, and assisting students in receiving confirmation.
  • Assist the chaplain in ensuring theological fidelity in all faith formation programs, Bible studies, and small groups.
  • Teach and mentor students in Catholic doctrine, moral theology, and apologetics.
2. Small Group & Peer Ministry Development
  • Train and mentor student leaders in leading small faith-sharing groups.
  • Oversee the development of student-led faith initiatives while maintaining doctrinal oversight.
  • Provide ongoing spiritual formation for student leaders engaged in evangelization.
3. Liturgical & Pastoral Support
  • Supervise student participation in liturgical roles, including lectors, altar servers, and musicians.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating campus liturgies, retreats, and prayer services.
  • Provide pastoral guidance to students seeking to deepen their faith.
4. Campus Evangelization & Outreach
  • Engage students in on-campus evangelization efforts and coordinate outreach initiatives.
  • Build relationships with students and faculty, fostering an environment of faith and community.
  • Support interfaith dialogue efforts in alignment with Catholic teaching.
5. Administrative & Development Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Campus Minister to ensure smooth ministry operations.
  • Assist in fundraising and donor relations to support campus ministry initiatives.
  • Help manage ministry communications, including social media and event promotion.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Theology or closely related field
    from a reputable Catholic institution.
  • Experience: Previous ministry experience in a
    college, parish, or diocesan setting
  • Doctrinal Fidelity: Must be a
    practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep understanding of Church teaching.
  • Leadership

    Skills:

    Experience in
    mentoring students, organizing events, and leading small groups.
  • Strong Communication: Ability to teach, engage, and inspire young adults in their faith journey.
Preferred

Skills:

  • Background in
    campus ministry or young adult evangelization.
  • Experience in
    public speaking, catechesis, and theological instruction.
  • Ability to
    collaborate with clergy, lay leaders, and student groups.
  • Familiarity with
    diocesan policies and safe environment protocols.
Working Conditions:
  • Requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends for student activities.
  • Office located on campus with occasional travel for retreats and training.
  • Reports directly to the Chaplain and collaborates closely with the Campus Minister for Mission Advancement.
