Porter-Gaud is an Episcopal, co-educational day school serving more than 1,000 students in grades 1-12. The O'Quinn Schools of Porter-Gaud serve an additional 600 preschool students from age two through kindergarten.

The O'Quinn Schools are seeking highly motivated and nurturing Preschool Assistant Teachers for all grades 2K-5K for the 2026-27 School Year for both the James Island & Mount Pleasant Campuses. The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating an engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, and cognitive growth of young children.

Ideal candidates will have a passion for early childhood education and will create a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of young learners. Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages children's social, emotional, and cognitive development
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom space
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior
  • Adhere to all DSS regulations and school policies and expectations
  • Support the Lead Teacher in lesson planning, classroom activities, and daily implementation of the curriculum
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with young children in an early childhood setting
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

    35-40 hours per week

    Commensurate with experience
