School Description Trident Academy is a K–12 independent school dedicated to learners with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia. The school uses the multi-sensory structured literacy approach to support students in reading, writing, and arithmetic. Teachers focus on helping each student build confidence, develop academic skills, and experience success in the classroom. Trident Academy provides a structured, supportive environment where individualized instruction and evidence-based practices guide daily teaching.

Role Description Trident Academy seeks to build a strong and dependable substitute teacher pool. Substitute teachers may be asked to fill in at short notice during teacher absences, or they may have coverage arranged in advance for planned absences.

Day-to-day tasks include supervising students, supporting learners with dyslexia or related learning differences, following school policies and procedures, and collaborating with staff to ensure continuity of instruction. The Substitute Teacher may adapt materials as needed, manage classroom behavior, communicate with administrators regarding student progress or concerns, and contribute to a safe and inclusive school community.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and capacity to follow established lesson plans and school procedures.
  • Ability to support students with dyslexia or related learning differences and maintain an inclusive, respectful classroom environment.
  • Candidates should possess basic skills in instruction and classroom management. Experience working in K–12 classroom settings is very helpful.
  • Candidates should possess strong communication skills to interact professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Experience or familiarity with the Orton-Gillingham approach or other multi-sensory instructional methods is beneficial, but not necessary.
