Job Description

Embark on a rewarding contract assignment as an Itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired, supporting students in a thriving educational community near Goose Creek, SC. This full-time opportunity extends through June 4th, 2027, with a consistent 35-hour workweek, placing you at the center of student success across various school sites.

Key

Qualifications:

• Valid South Carolina teaching certificate with a Visual Impairment (VI) endorsement
• Proven experience delivering academic and functional vision services to K–12 students
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, staff, and families
• Ability to adapt instructional materials and methods to serve a diverse caseload
• Familiarity with educational technology and assistive devices for low vision/blind learners

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction tailored to students with visual impairments, both individually and in groups
• Assess functional vision, learning needs, and create appropriate individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Consult with general education staff, administrators, and families to enhance access to curriculum and school life
• Recommend and implement adaptive tools and strategies for students’ academic independence
• Travel between multiple schools as assigned to provide on-site support and services
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to IEP meetings, progress reports, and compliance documentation
