Montessori Teacher Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Montessori Teacher's Assistant to join our classroom community at 88 Simons Street, Charleston, SC. In this role, you will work closely with the Lead Guide to support a prepared environment that fosters independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning for our students. The ideal candidate has a deep respect for children and a desire to learn and grow within the Montessori philosophy.

• Assist the Lead Guide in maintaining a calm, clean, and orderly Montessori classroom environment.
• Observe and support children as they work with Montessori materials, encouraging independence and self-direction.
• Supervise children during outdoor playtime, transitions, and lunch or snack periods to ensure their safety.
• Help prepare and refresh classroom materials, activities, and daily practical life exercises.
• Model graceful and courteous behavior, supporting the social and emotional development of each child.

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare facility or school setting.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting required by South Carolina state regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with staff and interact warmly with families.
• Physical ability to bend, sit on the floor, and lift up to 40 pounds as needed in an active classroom.

• Introduction to Montessori philosophy training or a completed Montessori assistant certificate.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience working with diverse student populations or children with varied learning needs.
