Job Purpose
The Assistant Director of Career Success is an integral member of the School of Business Student Success Center (SB SSC ) team, supporting career education and experiential learning initiatives. This role supports the delivery of career advising, experiential learning, and student engagement services within the SB SSC . It serves as a primary point of contact for students, providing direct, high-impact career support through advising, workshops, and daily operations.
Working under the direction of the Director of Career Success, this position focuses on student engagement and appointment availability for career education, including, but not limited to, resume and cover letter reviews, Handshake and Linked In profile reviews, interview preparation, and internship/job searches. The Assistant Director will assist with all School of Business career services operations to ensure timely, accessible, and effective student support.
The Assistant Director will manage all budgetary responsibilities for the annual German-American Business Summit, including scholarships and employer sponsor ships, as well as the Summer Internship Award budget. An essential aspect of this role will be managing and analyzing career and salary data, including data from Lightcast and the School of Business Senior Survey, to meet the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business ( AACSB ) accreditation requirements.
Collaboration with campus and external stakeholders, including employers, is essential. The role involves providing a range of career-readiness services to students, including but not limited to workshops, presentations, events, tabling, drop-in hours, and marketing.
Education
:
Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s degree in Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Student Development, or Counseling is desired.
Experience
:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in career development, higher education, or related student services. Experience in planning and assessing career or experiential learning programs is essential. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the principles and theories of student development and educational administration, as well as the techniques of individual or group counseling.
- Coordinates, manages, and instructs in-person and online classes on experiential learning and career development throughout the academic year.
- Provides supportive counseling for a wide range of student problems and concerns.
- Possesses a strong knowledge of career counseling techniques and student development frameworks with strict adherence to FERPA privacy regulations.
- Demonstrates proficiency in managing digital career platforms (e.g., Handshake, Lightcast) and creating engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of the policies and procedures affecting all assigned program areas, including public relations and fiscal management.
- Ability to handle information and data, and write reports.
- Assessment and database experience with the ability to interpret career development assessment instruments.
